Dirty Martini

Vodka is the most popular spirit in the US and often the only one beer and wine drinkers will try. Although this website is intended to educate about other spirits and encourage variety, there are a TON of tasty vodka drinks to try. For starters, let’s take a look at the classic dirty martini shown above.

Ingredients

2 ounces high quality vodka (Grey Goose is my go to for this drink)

Splash (1/4 to 1/2 ounce) of dry vermouth (Doulin’s is a good one)

1/4 to 1/2 olive brine (to taste)

Garnish with three queen olives

Equipment

Shaker (or mixing glass) and strainer

Martini style glass well chilled

Recipe

Measure all ingredients into an ice filled shaker or mixing glass - of course there is debate about which - use whatever you have. Shake or stir for 15 seconds and strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with three queen olives (or one, never an even number). Drink.

Fun modification - Switch up the olive brine with other pickled ingredients like spicy Brussels sprouts (e.g., Black Sheep Frog Balls) and use the item as part of the garnish.
