Vanilla Walnut Old Fashioned

Ingredients

2 ounces bourbon

1/2 ounce vanilla liqueur

2 dashes black walnut bitters

1 large ice cube in a rocks glass

halved walnut or Luxardo cherry as garnish (optional)

Mixing glass and strainer

Recipe

This variation on a classic old fashioned includes black walnut bitters (instead of angostura) and 1/2 oz of vanilla liqueur to replace the sugar. Build the drink ingredients in a mixing glass with a few ice cubes and stir until well chilled. Strain over a rocks glass (a.k.a. lowball) filled with ice and float a shelled walnut half on top. Or skewer that awesome Luxardo cherry as shown above. Tastes better and better as the ice melts.
